Finding Motivation

I am trying to get myself excited to take photos again.  It seems like every time life gets hectic my photography takes a hit.  In the beginning of the year I joined a few flickr groups that have different themes for photos every week (then school happened sooo...well I think I did maybe two weeks then stopped).  However, the point is to help me to reach outside of my comfort zone and try to photograph things that I wouldn't normally consider.  Last week I entered these photos...

not all of the themes for this week have been posted but I plan to make a list of them tomorrow so I can attempt to shoot a photo for each.  If I can do two I will be happy especially since my birthday is this week.  Can't be two hard on myself but we'll see.

Ava: I'm not a girl Mommy, I'm a Princess

Thankful Thursday 6-2

It's summer, vacation is just around the corner, hours of outside play and field trips with my family are a sure thing, there is green grass, there are blue skies, plenty of weekend bonfires to come,  and of course lots and lots of vitamin D to be soaked up.

There is so much to be thankful for and this week it's the changing of the seasons.  

and like every week there is this...how can you not be thankful for this.

Toddler Tuesday 5/31/11

Photographing a toddler can be difficult at best because they don't pose or stand still, they think running from the camera is the funnest game ever, if you say look at the camera they do just that...literally stare at the camera like it's going to do a magic trick, or my favorite is to try to take the camera saying "my turn".

One of my friends does a toddler Tuesday where she writes about funny things her boys say so I thought I would do a twist on that with toddler Tuesday pictures.  The good, the bad, and the ugly of photographing a toddler.  I will post all of my photos even the ones that normally would end up on the cutting room floor.  So here was today in a nutshell...or at least me following Ava around for about an hour to see what I could capture.

Memorial Day 2011

We decided we wanted to hang close to home on memorial day and avoid the traffic.  I made North Carolina pulled pork, drunken hot dogs, cucumber dill salad, baked mac and cheese, and chocolate pound cake with strawberries and whipped cream.  It was a nice quiet day but we were all excited after spending so much time out in the hot sun.  Ava enjoyed her new pool though and it really helped cool her off.

It's a wonderful life.....
