If you have read my blog before you have seen this photo which was posted back on day 3 of my 365 project. If you read that post then you may remember my story about Chestnut and his knack for always having the best seat in the house. Whether you have heard it or not I will share it again.
Back in my childhood home when Chestnut was a young buck we use to have this blue recliner. Actually we still have the recliner but it use to sit in front of a huge bay window that overlooked the front yard, the street, and my bus stop. We also had a real wood fireplace which had a way of making the house extra toasty and warm. Well, there I would be bundled up from head to toe making my way down our sidewalk past the bay window and every day without fail I would look in to find Chestnut looking back out at me. There he would be in the comfy blue recliner, nestled up on the arm, in front of the fire, inside the warm house looking out. I use to think to myself, 'that dog is so lucky'. Even from my bus stop I could see him still there, warm in the chair, and I would watch his image fade as my bus pulled away. When I would arrive home in the afternoon after a long day at school there he would be. Propped up in the blue recliner and one would have to wonder if he had moved at all that whole day.
His face is whiter, his eye sight worse, his hearing all but gone, but his love for a good spot to sleep is still unchanged.
